In October 2012 Leading Cities led a trip to Lisbon, Portugal with a stop in the Azores. The trip focused on four main issues: Building the Waterfront City, Strategies for the Entrepreneurial City, Promoting the Innovative City and Engineering the Sustainable City. Delegates on the trip met with city and business leaders and had the opportunity to meet with special guests such as US Ambassador Allan Katz. The trip had several notable successes including a partnership agreement forged between MassPort and the Port of Lisbon and a signing ceremony with the Mayor and US Ambassador to welcome Lisbon in to the partnership.
